Autogenic Therapy arrives in Winchcombe
Shelagh Greygoose has recently re-located back to Winchcombe, bringing with her the qualification of Autogenic Therapist. Shelagh, who has completed the British Autogenic Society Diploma Course at The Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine is very excited about the prospect of introducing Autogenic Therapy to the people of Winchcombe. She hopes to help others to benefit (as she has) from this unique, simple, yet profoundly powerful, natural therapy.
But what is Autogenic Therapy? That was exactly Shelagh's response when she first read about it in an article in The British Heart Foundation magazine. Little did she know that it had been around for almost 100 years and had been available on the NHS at a London Hospital for over 20 years.
At that time, after spending many years as a Paramedic in Central London, Shelagh was forced to leave the job she loved due to developing a heart rhythm problem. She tried everything she could, with both conventional and alternative medicine, to regain her life which was dominated by this condition and required frequent hospitalisation. Shelagh says, "I felt frustrated, powerless and had no control over what was happening to me. Nothing brought lasting results until I discovered Autogenic Therapy."
This natural therapy, which encompasses the mind and body, utilises the body's own natural restorative abilities. It is a highly effectively deep relaxation technique, which rapidly relaxes the body, helps to switch off the fight or flight response, allowing a state of deep relaxation, giving the body an opportunity to rebalance itself and have optimum conditions for healing to take place. Best of all, once learnt, it becomes a tool for life that individuals can use without being dependent on anyone else. Shelagh says, "after learning to use Autogenic Therapy with the guidance and support of a qualified therapist I have not looked back ..... I have regained my life".
Having benefited personally, Shelagh decided to take it further and now works as an Autogenic Therapist in Winchcombe. You can contact Shelagh by email on shelaghanne@hotmail.co.uk or on 07957 551696.
