Plans for 2012 Festival announced

Following the resounding success of Winchcombe's first Festival of Music & Arts, plans are now being drawn up for 2012. This year's Festival will build on the key aims of 2011, namely:

Providing a community event for Winchcombe and its environs
Showcasing local musical and artistic talent
Providing a relatively low-cost opportunity for Winchcombe residents and visitors to experience live music and arts
Attracting visitors

"Monarchy" will be a theme which runs through the 2012 Festival. Locally the Town and Castle will be celebrating 500 years since the birth of Queen Katherine Parr and nationally we will be celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Festival will start in the week commencing Monday 28th May and will run through to the Jubilee weekend, with a Jubilee Gala Night and a Street Fair.

SPARKLING FESTIVAL LINE-UP

A sparkling six-day celebration is planned for this year's Festival to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Quincentenary of Queen Katherine Parr, who died at Sudeley Castle.

The anniversaries will be honoured in music, song, dance, drama, arts and crafts in an exciting and wide-ranging Festival programme.

Fun for young people

This year sees many activities for children and young people with art, a disco, plus workshops in crafts, drama, music and the media.

New events - and old favourites

New Festival listings for 2012 include folk and French cabaret music, floral art, cake decorating, creative writing, bell-ringing and a Gamelan session featuring Indonesian music. Many Festival favourites from last year also return for this week-long Jubilee extravaganza.
