Winchcombe remembers ..... and raises record amount
Between 1st October and 30th November an astonishing £8992 was collected in Winchcombe by the Royal British Legion. This includes the money raised by the Poppy Appeal Concert at Winchcombe School which was a sellout! The bucket collection on Abbey Terrace during the Remembrance Service raised over £800 which was a marvellous achievement.
John Welch (Parade Marshall and Hon. Secretary of the Winchcombe Branch) said,"We are eternally grateful to the people of Winchcombe for their continuing support and generosity. Thanks are also due to our Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator (June Wright) and all the collectors who worked so hard to achieve this.
A number of shopkeepers and collectors were presented with awards by the County Chairman of the Gloucestershire Royal British Legion after the Remembrance Service.
