Public Consultation on Joint Core Strategy
Whether or not you were you at the meeting in Winchcombe School on 31st January about the Joint Core Strategy you may be interested to read a summary here.
The Joint Core Strategy is a partnership between Gloucester City Council, Cheltenham Borough Council and Tewkesbury Council, supported by Gloucestershire County Council. It was formed to produce a coordinated strategic development plan for the area and will plan how the area will develop during the period up to 2031. The Joint Core Strategy will set out the approach Councils will take to protect/enhance the natural and historic environment, deal with climate change and will set out policies for the location/timing of new housing and employment development along with key infrastructure, community, leisure and tourism facilities.
The three Councils (Tewkesbury, Cheltenham and Gloucester City) are now embarked on a public consultation process. They have produced a consultation document "Developing the Preferred Option" on which they are seeking views. You can see the different ways in which you can make your views known on the Joint Core Strategy website here. The consultation document contains four "scenarios" (A, B, C, D) and the Joint Core Strategy team are particularly keen to have views on these. Once the consultation results have been collated and considered there will be a further consultation in Summer 2012 on a preferred option (with a view to this being adopted in 2014).
The consultation deadline is 12 February 2012.
