Winchcombe Christmas Festival
A traditional Cotswold Christmas Festival complete with hand bell ringers, choirs and a bustling street market takes place in Winchcombe on Tuesday 4th December. The town will be full of festive cheer when the Festival evening trots into action at 5pm with Santa Claus arriving in the town centre in a horse drawn "sleigh".
North Street will be closed to traffic and will be transformed into a hive of Yule Tide activity with children's attractions, performances by local choirs, Happenstance Border Morris and a traditiional Winchcombe Mummers Play to celebrate Christmas. 20 stalls laden with Christmas gifts will line North Street and will include everything from chocolate goodies, vintage fabrics, children's clothes and toys, ironwork, Christmas decorations and hampers and wooden gifts. And of course shops will be open and many traders will be serving mulled wine and mince pies to customers.
Father Christmas will be seeing youngsters in his grotto in "Just-In" on Hailes Street throughout the evening and the Isbourne Singers will be performing there at 7.45pm. Many of the pubs and tea rooms will be providing live music and hand bell ringers will be doing their stuff from 6pm in North Street. Carols and festive songs from the Winchcombe Community Choir will fill the High Street with Christmas cheer along with local church choirs and Winchcombe Concert Brass.
It'll be a very authentic and traditional Christmas event in very authentic Cotswold town.
