Designed exclusively for small groups of no more than six people, this in-depth experience offers rare access to the inner workings of our railway and the dedicated teams who keep it running.

The Carriage & Wagon Works home to our skilled volunteers who restore and maintain our fleet of heritage coaches

A working signal box where you will witness two trains crossing and gain a fascinating insight into traditional railway signalling in action

Your guides will then accompany you for a full-line round trip behind both steam and heritage diesel traction. As you travel through the beautiful Cotswold countryside, they will share the history of the line, the story of its preservation, and how the railway operates today. Where possible, you will enjoy the journey from the comfort of first class seating.
During the day you will be served a ploughman’s lunch, along with plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you refreshed.
Much melodic gorgeousness to be had and behold.
Songs from the Porch bring together fiddle, double bass, accordion and lush singering and cook up a stripped-back alt-country soup base, which they ladle deliciously over the unpromising noodles of modern pop and underground classics; everything from Alicia Keys to Frank Ocean.
