Back Lane Car Park, Winchcombe GL54 5PZ

Join us for a beautiful countryside adventure exploring peaceful woodland trails, rolling hills and one of the Cotswolds’ most fascinating ancient landmarks

This scenic there-and-back route takes us from the charming town of Winchcombe up into the surrounding countryside towards Belas Knap – a remarkable Neolithic burial chamber sitting high on Cleeve Hill with stunning views across the Cotswolds.
Belas Knap is a prehistoric long barrow believed to be over 5,000 years old. Built during the Neolithic period, it was used as a communal burial site and remains one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in the area. Its impressive stone chambers and dramatic hilltop setting make it a truly special place to visit and a wonderful glimpse into Britain’s ancient past.

Distance: approximately 10km

Duration: about 2 – 3 hours

Parking: Pay & Display – £1:50 all day

These walks are friendly, informal group hikes led by myself through my love of the outdoors and local knowledge of the area. Everyone taking part does so at their own risk and is responsible for their own safety, wellbeing and personal belongings throughout the walk.

This is the first of four relaxed walks, perfect for meeting new people, enjoying fresh air, and connecting to nature and the special place that is Cleeve Common.
The walks will be run by our Community Engagement Officer Nicole and Amanda Steer a local artist and print maker. Together they will weave together their love and knowledge of nature, wildlife, art and the Common into the Five Ways of Wellbeing.
Each will follow a similar format and route but will have slightly different focus and activities each time. We recommend trying to come to all the walks, but if you can only make this one, that is great.

The route we will take follows the Tramper Trail, so it is suitable for anyone using off road mobility equipment or who would rather avoid some of the steep climbs on the Common. The pace will be gentle and there will be regular stops along the route, including at benches.

Bringing unpaid carers together for a welcome creative break

24th June – 5th August
12:45pm – 2:45pm
Isbourne Arts Centre, High Street, Winchcombe, Cheltenham GL54 5LJ

The pilot course of 7 sessions is designed to:

Enable carers to take time for themselves

Support social connection with others who share similar experiences

Help build confidence through gaining new skills

Ease frustration and help carers feel “heard”

Anyone aged 18+ in or around the town who provides regular, unpaid support to a loved one is invited to find some welcome distraction from daily challenges through having a go at a range of creative arts activities.

Each participant will also benefit from one-to-one chats with their Artist Faciltiator, Emma, who also has experience as an unpaid carer. She will support them to think about how they can stay creative, and stay well after the sessions have finished. Carers involved will also have access to resoruces, such as video tutorials and worksheets to help them stay creative at home.
New members are being invited to join this small, friendly and non-judgemental group and are encouraged to get in touch to discuss any worries about attending. The partners co-designing the offer are committed to working with participants to bring down barriers where possible. For example, there is a small budget to support reasonable transport costs and, if required, arts actviities can also be provided for those who are being cared for.

The group has been co-designed and is being piloted by partners:

Artlift, a nationally-renowned charity that has been providing socially prescribed ‘Arts on Prescription’ services for almost 20 years

Gloucestershire Carers Hub, who benefit unpaid carers throughout the county through information, supporting carers’ activities, Carers’ cafés, a buddy scheme and carers’ emergency scheme

Isbourne Arts, a newly established performance, events and community hub serving the rural community in and around Winchcombe

Cheltenham Peripheral Primary Care Network, a collaboration of five GP surgeries including Bishops Cleeve surgeries and Winchcombe Medical Practice

Participants can be referred by a health or voluntary sector professional, or they can put themselves forward just by filling in a simple form or calling Artlift.

A relaxing walk to boost your mood and connect with others in nature!

Friday, 26th June
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Cleeve Hill Golf Course, GL52 3PW

Join us for an adventure that’s all about connecting creativity and wellbeing!
