01 Jan GWSR – Behind Closed Doors
Carriage & Wagon Edition
An exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour of our Carriage & Wagon department!
Wednesday, 2nd April
12:30pm – 4:55pm
This is a fantastic opportunity to travel on our railway, to learn more of its history and the way it is operated and to visit our carriage and wagon workshops which are normally closed to the public where you will learn about the amazing work carried out by our volunteers to restore and maintain our fleet of BR Mk 1 carriages which are some 60-70 years old. You will accompanied at all times by one of our knowledgeable guides who will give you a presentation about the railway – and to top it all off there will be lots of tea, coffee and cake – and a delicious ploughman’s lunch at one of our stations. You will also receive a “goodie bag” containing mementoes of your visit and a commemorative certificate.
This tour lasts approximately 5 hours. Full details and joining instructions will be sent some 3 weeks before your visit. Please note, this experience is only suitable for those over 16 years old and you must be wearing closed toe, solid shoes for the tour. The tour is only suitable for those who are fully mobile because of the nature of the locations visited.
- Tickets: £80
