A unique opportunity to visit our Loco Shed, Signal Box and Carriage & Wagon departments

This is a unique opportunity to travel the whole length of our railway, visit our Loco Sheds, a Signal Box and our Carriage & Wagon workshops all with your own tour guide in a group of up to 6 people.
Your guide for the day will accompany you at all times and will travel with over the whole length of the railway giving you lots of information about the history of our railway and how it is operated now. You will visit our steam and diesel locomotive sheds where you will be able to see our operational fleet and also locos being repaired and restored. You will visit our Carriage and Wagon workshops where you will learn about the amazing work carried our by our volunteers to restore and maintain our fleet of BR Mk1 carriages which are some 60-70 years. You will also visit a signal box and see it in operation. To top it all off there will be lots of tea, coffee and cake and you will be treated to a delicious ploughman’s lunch at one of our stations. You will also receive a “goodie bag” containing mementoes of your visit and a commemorative certificate.
This tour lasts for almost a whole day. Full details and joining instructions will be sent some 3 weeks before your visit. Please note, this experience is only suitable for those over 16 years old and you must be wearing closed toe, solid shoes for the tour. The tour is only suitable for those who are fully mobile because of the nature of the locations visited.
