Sam Lee at Postlip Hall
We are thrilled and privileged to have Sam Lee, Mercury prize nominated folk singer, song collector, promoter, broadcaster and naturalist, joining us for an intimate gig at Postlip Hall. Sam will launch his new album, Old Wow on Saturday, 14 September.
‘Old Wow’ will be released in late 2019 and is a collection of songs written from, interpreted, adapted and augmented out of Sam’s unique collection of material he has sourced as an intrepid song collector of British vernacular song.
Sam will be accompanied on this tour by James Keay (piano); Misha Mullov-Abbado (double bass); Kalli Opimitropoulou (violin); and Josh Green (percussion).
This promises to be a very special performance by an exceptional singer.
Sam will be supported by the “bold and starry-eyed visionary” (The Quietus) Ed Dowie. Ed released his extraordinary experimental debut album, The Uncle Sold in January 2017. His music has regularly appeared on BBC6 Music and BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction, which included The Uncle Sold in their Top 12 albums of 2017.
“absolutely extraordinary… atmospheric, surprising, unexpected” – Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music
