15 Jul Winchcombe Festival of Music and Arts
Winchcombe Festival of Music and Arts
Once again the Winchcombe Festival of music and arts includes a wonderful mix of live music, talks, and workshops as well as drama for the first time. 17 – 19 September in and around Winchcombe.
A topical highlight will be scientists from the Natural History Museum talking about the Winchcombe Meteorite.
The Art Trail will run throughout the three days at venues in and around Winchcombe town centre, likewise the Family Fun Detective Trail which will have you scouring local buildings and landmarks.
Helen Plumb of Just Gems will explain the allure of gems such as sphene, chrysoberyl, diaspore and hackmanite, and the lengths and depths that gem collectors will go to acquire them.
New panels have been added to the community project, textile art, recreating our town’s beautiful and diverse buildings and views in stitches.
Or, try your hand at playing the drums of the Rio Carnival! Learn on authentic instruments– from big surdos to small tamborims – under expert tuition from David Walter of Olá Samba.
Jen Beetson’s bold acrylic canvases are inspired by a life of vivid and colourful memories. Her paintings here celebrate long summers spent growing up on the beaches of the Dingle Peninsula and single moments of beauty looking around her Worcestershire garden.
Just a taste of things to come!
Lots more information at WFMA, with ticket details, which will go on sale in August, with a £1 discount for those bought in advance. Further details.
The Festival is a non-profit making organisation run by people in Winchcombe, bringing live music and arts to Winchcombe. We showcase local talent as well as many wonderful performers and artists from further afield.
We’d like to thank all our sponsors for their generous support this year. Our Festival-wide sponsors are Hollingsworth & Vose and Sheldon Bosley Knight.
