24 Aug Cleeve Common – Family Event: Ranger for the Day
A day in Wardens’ Wood for some practical management before a picnic and some bushcraft fun
Saturday, 17th October
10:30am – 2:30pm
Cleeve Common, Cleeve Hill GL54 4EU
Start with Conservation Officer Giles as he explains how we keep our woodlands in the best condition we can for a variety of wildlife. We will then do some practical management in the form of coppicing and thinning which gives larger trees more room to thrive and allows more light down to the woodland floor which benefits ground flora, invertebrates and birds.
After breaking for a picnic lunch we will then have some family fun in the woods making dens.
Suitable for children aged 5 years and over. Younger siblings are welcome free of charge, but please note the activities are aimed at primary school aged children with the help of their parents or guardians. Tools such as saws and loppers will be used with parental supervision. We recommend no more than one child to one adult for children aged 7 years and younger.
