Come and join us as we explore Warden’s Wood and West Down with foraging tutor Rob Gould , aka Cotswold Forager, and Nicole Daw of Cleeve Common Trust.
With over 30 years of foraging experience under his belt, Rob will guide us through the wild edibles we find on our walk, both those that are already fairly well known and some less common, whilst Nicole will be there to talk a bit about the history of the woods and wider area, along with what work is being/has been done to improve the area for wildlife.

Due to the varied habits we will cover – ancient woodland and hedgerow, modern planted forestry, minimally managed pasture – we can expect to see a wide selection of edible species, which at this time of year will be dominated by autumn fruits and berries. As you walk, Rob will talk to you about key identification points for species, possible lookalikes, ways of making use of them, and also the many ways of preserving them for use later in the year, along with answering questions that come up.
During the walk you will also get to try a selection of snacks, incorporating wild items that are growing right now, as well as some that have been preserved from previous seasons. Can you please therefore let us know of any dietary requirements at least a week before the event.
