The latest production from the Players is “Ladies Day” by Amanda Whittington, the story of four women with run of the mill jobs and broken dreams who each find a reason to hope on a surprise trip to Royal Ascot.
Warm, funny and ultimately moving, this comedy sees four Hull fish factory workers swap their overalls for big hats and head off to Royal Ascot. What begins as a day out quickly becomes a journey of self-discovery, as friendships are tested, secrets emerge, and each woman dares to imagine a different future.
Full of sharp humour, big-hearted characters and moments of real poignancy, the play captures both the excitement of a special occasion and the deeper hopes and struggles beneath it.
