Annie grew up enchanted by her grandmother’s stories of life in the Midlands during the mid-1900s, filled with memories of her sisters. Yet one sister, Vera, remained a mystery – never spoken of, only described as having run away. No explanation was ever given…
Determined to break the silence, Annie imagines Vera’s life and gives her a voice in “The Fifth Daughter”.

Cheltenham based author, Annie Stewart, has written eight books for children, one of which, Pickle & Lily, featured at the 70th anniversary of the Cheltenham Literature Festival. The Fifth Daughter is her first work of adult fiction.

Annie will be signing copies of her new novella and chatting about her inspiration.
